Therapeutic Support, Behavioural Consultation and Wellbeing Services for Schools

Many children and young people struggle to access counselling or therapeutic support for the difficulties and traumas they’ve experienced. Increasingly, schools are expanding their pastoral, wellbeing, and mental‑health provision to offer this support in‑house — and seeing meaningful, positive outcomes.

Research shows that school‑based mental health services can improve pupils’ emotional wellbeing, strengthen social and emotional skills, and reduce anxiety, depression, bullying, and classroom difficulties.
(‘Wise Up: Prioritising Wellbeing in Schools’, YoungMinds)

I offer tailored therapeutic support for pupils, alongside specialist consultation for staff teams working with complex behavioural or emotional presentations. This includes support for trauma‑informed practice, whole‑school wellbeing approaches, and early intervention for pupil mental health.

Sally, Headteacher
Female Lecturer

“Alice has worked with children, parents and staff in our school. Her bespoke work has supported children, some who have experienced profound and significant events, to address difficult issues enabling them to access learning they wouldn’t have been otherwise able to do.  She has provided a coaching model of supervision for staff and really helped us understand and support our children with complex mental health needs.”

Whole‑School Mental Health Support, Psychotherapy & Training for Schools

I believe in a whole‑school approach to mental health — one that supports pupils, parents, and staff together.
My aim is to help your school create a safe, secure, and accessible space where pupils, families, and staff can access high‑quality school‑based mental health support, psychotherapy, and trauma‑informed intervention.

Schools are increasingly investing in in‑house mental health provision, early intervention, and wellbeing services to meet the growing emotional and behavioural needs of their pupils. A flexible, tailored package allows your school to strengthen pastoral care, respond to complex presentations, and embed a consistent, trauma‑informed culture across the whole community.

A flexible, personalised package may include:

  • One‑to‑one long‑term psychotherapy for pupils
Supporting emotional wellbeing, trauma recovery, behavioural challenges, and mental health needs.

  • Parenting support for families
Helping caregivers understand and respond to their child’s emotional and developmental needs.

  • Family therapy sessions
For families experiencing relational strain, communication difficulties, or wider systemic challenges.

  • One‑to‑one staff supervision
Supporting teachers, pastoral leads, and safeguarding staff with the emotional demands of their roles.

  • Regular group supervision for staff teams
Strengthening trauma‑informed practice, classroom approaches, and whole‑school mental health awareness.

  • Staff training and CPD
Covering mental health, behavioural difficulties, trauma, attachment, and the impact of adversity on young people.

With my background in education, you can be confident in my commitment to developing strong, sustainable pastoral and mental‑health provision in schools. I am passionate about supporting school communities to build environments where pupils, families, and staff can thrive.

Why me?

I have over 25 years experience working with children, young people and families. I am a qualified teacher who taught in mainstream and EBD special education for seven years before having my own children. I also worked as a Parent Support Professional for five years before doing my clinical Psychotherapy training.

I have a Masters in Psychological Therapies and a Clinical Masters from the NHS Tavistock and Portman Foundation Trust in London, qualifying me to work as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with children, adolescents and families.

Through my extensive experience in schools I have seen that there is a mental health need in schools that is simply not able to be met by current provisions. Thresholds for children and young people to access CAMHS have been raised and there are a substantial number of pupils who need it but who are now unable to access mental health support. This is impacting on teaching and learning as well as projected outcomes for children and young people in the future.

As a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist I can support the mental health provision in your school.

Please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with you.
